The 13.4m 100-seat three-axle double deckers, able to carry up to 129 passengers in total. The buses were developed in close collaboration with Lothian and chassis manufacturer Volvo, and manufactured in Falkirk plant. Alexander Dennis’s Enviro400XLB was the first bus for the United Kingdom to be mounted on Volvo’s three-axle B8L chassis, powered by the efficient 350hp Euro 6 D8K engine.

An electric range hybrid capable of running in zero-emission mode for up to three miles. Developed in partnership with BAE Systems, it uses an electric driveline for smooth acceleration and braking. Powered by a 32kWh battery and charged by an on-board generator, the Enviro400ER delivers zero emissions without any dependency on additional external charging infrastructure. Alternatively, it can be charged externally through an industry standard plug-in connection.

The BYD ADL Enviro400EV is the zero emission double deck bus from BYD and Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL).

Using the proven combination of BYD electric technology and batteries with stylish bodywork and passenger-centric interior by ADL, the BYD ADL Enviro400EV is designed by ADL in the UK and BYD’s R&D Centre in Shenzhen, China.

The finished buses are assembled in Britain by ADL, just like all BYD ADL joint products.
