Case Construction Equipment announced at ConExpo 2008 the expansion of its E Series wheel loader line with the addition of the 1221E articulating wheel loader.

Designed for sand and gravel, stone and aggregates, roads and bridges, and site-preparation applications, the Case 1221E wheel loader has an operating weight of 30 t (33 ton) and a standard payload capacity of 7.6 yd3 (5.8 m3). It delivers a lift capacity of 13.07 t (14.41 ton) at full height.

The new wheel loader is powered by a fully electronic, six-cylinder, Tier-3-certified Cummins QSM 11 engine that delivers 320 net hp (239 kW) at 2000 rpm and 1235 lb·ft (1674 N·m) at 1400 rpm. The turbocharged, 10.8-L engine features electronic common-rail fuel injection to optimize power delivery and fuel economy. Power is delivered from the engine by a 4F/3R proportional transmission with electronic control module.

Traditional Z-bar and XR linkage configurations are available for the 1221E. Z-bar linkage facilitates high production, fast cycles, optimized operating loads, and high visibility to the bucket. For applications requiring more dump clearance, such as loading materials into high-sided trucks, the 1221E XR has high lift throughout the complete cycle.
