Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is delighted to announce a further order to supply seven new Kalmar DCE330-RORO units to the leading Italian shipping firm Messina Line (Ignazio Messina & C S.p.a).

The Kalmar DCE330-RORO possesses a 33-tonne lifting capacity, free lift mast up to three metres high and 360° visibility; and so is equally at home in the limited space on board ship as it is handling and stacking containers in the terminal yard. Messina will use the units to handle container and heavy break bulk on vessels and in the terminal of the vessels destination, to unload goods when needed.

Kalmar and Messina worked together to adapt and achieve exacting specifications required to fit the physical constraints within the new ships' RoRo holds. The mast had to be less than 5350mm and capable of lifting 33,000kg. As such, the forklifts have been equipped with an extra-low triplex free lift mast.

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order from Australia's newest and largest automotive and RoRo terminal due to open in April 2016.

The order includes four Kalmar DCE330-RoRo forklifts for moving break bulk cargo both on the wharf and on board vessels, four Kalmar DCG160-12 forklifts also used for moving break bulk and assisting in R&D operations and four Kalmar TR618i terminal tractors modified for MIRRAT's requirements - entailing increased capacity, lowered height and special programming to enable weight distribution. The delivery of the twelve Kalmar machines is due late March through to early April 2016.
